The Federation was sadden to learn of the tragic death of Cllr Stephen Ridley. Our hearts go out to his widow Julie and their family in their bereavement.
Stephen was a barrister. Among his professional achievements, he was the first to successfully prosecute a trial for rape based on DNA evidence. Lately he had stepped back from court work and was employed as the in-house counsel to a Norwich firm of insolvency practitioners.
Stephen had represented Bunwell Ward on South Norfolk District Council since 2019. He was Chairman of the Conservative Councillors Group and had served for a time as Deputy Chairman (Membership) of the South Norfolk Conservative Association. Before moving to Norfolk, he had been Treasurer of the Wandsworth Conservative Association.
His sound advice and cheerful personality will be greatly missed.
