People in and around Diss are enjoying new state-of-the-art swimming facilities, thanks to a £4 million investment by South Norfolk Council.
The Conservative‑led authority ordered a total refurb of Diss pool, to make it fit for future generations to come.
Works have seen a full retiling of both learner & main pool, which has also been shallowed - meaning more spaces on popular Aquafit classes.
Changing areas have been rebuilt & extended, with new family changing and accessibility features, designed in conjunction with local access groups.
“We know that learning to swim is an essential life skill, and a great way to stay fit and healthy for all ages.” says Health & Leisure cabinet member Cllr Kim Carsok.
“So we wanted a facility open to everyone in Diss & nearby villages that we can be proud of.”
And careful thought has gone into reducing CO2 emissions & energy bills:
“The whole building and pool are heated 100% by air-source heat pumps.” Kim explains. “We’ve stripped out gas boilers completely and insulated everything a lot better.”
Diss councillor Graham Minshull said: “I’m proud that while other councils are closing pools, South Norfolk has been able to give ours a big vote of confidence. It’s a brilliant asset for the town.”
Careful Conservative management of our councils is paying off.
